After visiting with our friends at Eurocom about their quest to drive the future of computing technology, I decided to pose the question to the community to brainstorm as many ideas as possible. I could not identify a perfect sub-forum for it, so I chose this one. It is not for one company, but all of them. Hopefully, they will be paying attention. I know that the Eurocom Team will be, and hopefully at least a couple of others that care enough to be disruptive. As the thread title suggests, this thread is not for one specific OEM and not a place to list out the features that you want in a notebook/laptop if those are available already. Rather, it's a twist on your typical wish list and poses the question about what we want to see that is not available. In other words, no need to mention 4K. That's already here and starting to become popular. No need to mention an eGPU contraption. We already have a couple of those available. No need to mention thin and light... we already have a plethora of options like that. What do you want that IS NOT available? Yes, WILD and CRAZY ideas and concepts more than features are what we want here. Think the exact opposite of this thread: Current design fads in laptops that you hate. Let imagination be your guide and assume all things are possible in the future.
The only stupid ideas are those you keep to yourself. After posting your ideas here, see if the company you do business with has a suggestion box email, and use it. Point them here as well. If they not, or even if they do, feel free to use the email suggestion box that Eurocom has made available: future@eurocom.com if you would like to. The more ideas we share, the brighter the future can be. I will go first in the next post."
I have an Asus 11". What I need is the width and length. Thin and light isn't what I need. What I'd like to see is a thicker small notebook case. One can, for a price, build larger notebooks, but not the small ones.
Sorry I'm late to this forum/brainstorm/design dream. I think my main issue with laptops is the size & components ratio. I looking for the overall mobile laptop with a bit of everthing; by this I mean (13' or 14') capable of light gaming/programing/web browsing and the battery to support it. However I haven't found the perfect one for me and I've noticed that this is because most mobile laptops have to sacrifice something to fit into a 13 or 14 chassis. Sometimes this is - Battery life e.g. System 76 Galago Pro - Dedicated GPU & Secondary HDD - Ports .e.g Macbooks & Zenbook + Others It's rare to find a mobile laptop with a great battery (>=60Wh), Sata HDD & M.2 SSD and Dedicated GPU. The closest thing would be a the Dell Latitude 5480, however this laptop can't have a SATA and M.2 at the same time. I feel as if we can free space in main chassis of a laptop by moving some circuitry & components behind the laptop monitor. Lately laptop screens are extremely thin and adding bit of thickness to the screen to make more area for more components or a bigger battery is something laptop designers should think of. This can be applied to notebooks like the LG Gram or Zenbook 3 series. Perhaps even add ports to the screen etc Memory Card or add the RAM module there and use ribbons to transfer info, I'm don't really know how to go about it but I'm sure that this is feasible and can be used in laptop designs.
